A frontal self-portrait of cropped up close, just below the artist's mouth, and built up in layers comprising thin, translucent brushstrokes in red, blue, and purple, forming heavy shadows, save for bright highlights on the artist's forehead, eyebrow ridge, cheek, and nose. With wide grid lines and raised ridges from crumpled paper laid over the wet paint.
