Black paint applied to a red background in sweeping, gestural strokes using the artist’s hands and brushes, and built up to form thick, impasto layers in some areas, with sgraffito lines scratched into the painted surface, revealing the canvas beneath. The sides of the canvas are painted black.

In fragile condition. Serious craquelure. Buckling. Parts of the canvas at the top right and left corners have torn off. Areas of paint have flaked off. Some minute green paint stains to the left of the canvas. Dust. Bits of black paint stains all over the back of the work.
