Description
-
This mixed media artwork consists of a concrete poem inscribed on a canvas board using a felt-tip pen. Here, the artist uses the word for "the people" (ประชาชน) as a recurring visual motif, forming, in block letters, the numeral "14"— an allusion to the massacre of protestors near Ratchadamnoen Avenue on 14 October 1973. The concrete poem is inscribed on a canvas board which is affixed to a larger board plastered over with printed poems. Most of the poems belong to the collection titled "Images from the Past" (ภาพพจน์ที่ผ่านมา).

Condition

Traces of the glue used to collage the printed poems or, possibly, mould. Serious insect damage. Holes at the bottom right corner of the canvas. Tide lines along the bottom edge. A scratch resulting in a tear to the left of the canvas and a grey line across the canvas. A crease at the bottom left corner of the work. Insect remains stuck to the board. Serious foxing (printed poems). Pieces of fabric have been glued to the reverse so that the work could be hung, leaving glue stains dripping down the reverse.
