Description
-
This abstract, gestural composition consists of thick, viscous handfuls of black paint slathered over a light-coloured background. Here, the artist uses his hands to manipulate the paint as if it were a sculptural medium, creating grooves in the impasto surface and streaks of splattered paint that bear witness to his dynamic, painterly process.

Condition
-
Discolouration; the background, which was likely painted white to begin with, now appears brown. Craquelure. Some evidence of the paint flaking off. Frame appears slightly distorted. The canvas appears to be pulling away from the frame and has been stapled again. Some holes along the edges of the canvas (on the reverse). Tears at the bottom right corner (on the reverse). A full condition report would require an in-person inspection.
