Description
-
In this abstract, gestural painting, thick, heavy handfuls of viscous white paint are slathered over a light-coloured background using the artist's hands and body, leaving a single, dominant, clockwise stroke in the upper half of the composition. Traces of red paint have been mixed into the backdrop, which consists of unevenly blended, deliberately textural white brushstrokes painted over a blue-tinged base.

Condition
-
Craquelure. Large bits of paint have flaked off the surface, revealing layers of red and black paint beneath the white. Brown liquid stains. Small tears at the top left and bottom left corners. A small hole at the bottom right corner of the canvas, which may be beginning to pull away from the stretcher. Paint on the back of the canvas. Nails used to secure the canvas to the frame have rusted.
