Description
-
An image of a house depicted in perspective, with cursorily unblended, expressive brushstrokes applied, sometimes using the dry brush technique, in a series of quick, gestural movements, creating a vibrant mass of intersecting lines and varied textures. Painted in vivid colours, including red, orange, yellow, green, blue, brown, black, and white.

Canvas was previously unmounted and has since been remounted onto a new stretcher. Craquelure. Serious evidence of the paint flaking off while the unmounted canvas was rolled up or folded; the final layer of paint has peeled off, revealing a green base near the left edge of the composition. Tide lines, faint red stains, and some illegible, red scribbles on the reverse. Tears along the top edge and holes at the top right corner which have been patched up on the reverse using pieces of white canvas. A small hole along the right edge (possibly caused by insects). Circular brown stains along the top edge.
