Description
-
Painted in a semi-abstract, expressive style characterised by loose, wavy, strokes of translucent red, blue, black, and white paint mixed upon the canvas using the wet-on-wet technique, this naturalistically proportioned portrait depicts the artist's fourth child, Thip Sae-tang, as a long-haired young man with a moustache. To the left of the image are columns of pseudo-calligraphic forms and curly scribbles in the form of small rectangles which recall Chinese seals. Parts of the white background are covered in dry red and blue brushstrokes.
