Description
-
A semi-abstract image of a luxuriant, grassy field—possibly a rice plantation—rendered in quick, broken strokes and daubs of vivid, contrasting colour which add depth to the image via the technique of optical mixing. The field dominates the composition, which is marked by several windswept palm trees on a high horizon. Painted in red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and black. By manipulating the ratio of oil to pigment, the artist has induced cracks in the surface of the painting, giving it a fragmentary appearance.
