Description
-
Framed by trees in the foreground, this semi-abstract landscape painting depicts a hut in a densely forested area. Here, the artist employs techniques shared by Impressionist painters, such as the use of brief, broken, unblended brushstrokes and daubs of contrasting colour which interact via optical mixing. By manipulating the chemical composition of the oil medium, the artist has induced cracks in the surface of the painting, giving it a fragmentary appearance, such that the image dissolves into abstraction when viewed up close. In red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and black.
