This abstract, gestural composition consists of handfuls of thick, impasto black paint smeared, in sweeping, winding, calligraphic strokes, over a patchy, unevenly blended, black-and-white backdrop composed of short, broken, unblended strokes and textured paint daubs. Trace amounts of blue have been mixed into the composition, which is covered in thin, trailing streaks and splatters of black paint.

Discolouration; white paint has turned yellow. Craquelure. Paint flaking. Insect droppings. Lizard droppings. Scratches along the top edge of the canvas, possibly due to being stacked together with other works. A faint horizontal scratch in the left half of the image. Holes along the edges of the canvas, where it has been nailed into the stretcher.
