Description
-
Thick, heavy handfuls of black paint smeared, in broad, sweeping, looping strokes, over a backdrop covered in patchily blended daubs of black and white paint. Parallel grooves are etched into the medium using the artist's fingers, creating a tactile, dynamic, and almost sculptural painterly surface. Traces of blue have been mixed into the black; at the centre of the composition is a heaping scoop of white paint swirled into the black.

Discolouration; white paint appears yellow. Craquelure. Paint flaking. Insect and lizard droppings. Dust and dirt. Canvas appears to have been remounted by the artist.
