Description
-
With vivid, complementary colours layered onto the canvas in spontaneous, expressive strokes, sometimes using the impasto technique, this semi-abstract portrait depicts the artist wearing an hat and gazing directly at the viewer. The composition is cropped up close, and the chemical composition of the oil paint has been manipulated so as to induce cracks, creating a fragmentary pictorial surface that disintegrates into abstraction when viewed up close. Painted in green, red, blue, orange, and yellow.
