Composed of short, broken, brushstrokes layered over the canvas in amber, red, purple, black, and white, this semi-abstract, close-cropped, realistically proportioned portrait depicts the artist facing front with his eyes closed and his brows furrowed in concentration. The impasto brushstrokes applied onto select regions of the composition imbue the surface with a gritty, granular texture.

Signed in Thai and in English ("CHANG") and dated "1977" along with an "O". Numbered "55" on the top side of the frame. Dated "1977" on a piece of plastic corrugated board affixed to the right side of the frame.

Dust and dirt. Craquelure. Brown stains on the reverse due to the medium used seeping through the canvas. Insect remains stuck to the back of the canvas.
