Composed of expressive, gestural outlines and forceful, sweeping downstrokes, this semi-abstract figurative painting depicts the bare torso of a man. The upper half of the figure's face is cropped out of the image, which is painted in black and grey over a white background, with quick smudges of paint creating soft shadows.

Brown stains around some strokes and on the reverse due to the medium used seeping through the canvas; traces of the inscription are also visible within the work. Some dust and dirt. Thin trails of a brown liquid which may have dripped over the surface of the work during the painterly process. Slight craquelure. Some canvas threads seem to be running. In fair condition.
