A wild, chaotic agglomeration of red paint applied onto a still-white background in sweeping, swirling motions, using a large brush. Scratches etched into the medium using the artist's fingers and thick, impasto paint splotches bear witness to the vigorous, dynamic painterly process.

Dirt and dust. Craquelure (see top right quadrant). A horizontal rip in the fabric of the canvas along the left edge. Remounted and stapled to a new stretcher. Small holes along the edges of the canvas, on the reverse, where it was formerly nailed onto the stretcher. In fairly good condition overall.
