This abstract, gestural painting consists of black paint smeared onto surface of the canvas using the artist's hands. Gaps between these forceful, sweeping, impasto strokes reveal patches of red concealed beneath the black, against a white background. Trace amounts of the black paint are splattered over parts of the composition.

Discolouration of the canvas. The white background appears yellow. Craquelure (some of it may be part of the work). Paint flaking. Brown stains around some strokes and on the reverse; possibly due to the oils in the medium used seeping through the canvas. Thin, white, vertical lines (possibly animal droppings). Dust and dirt. Top right quadrant of the canvas is detached from the wooden frame. Handle with care.
