Handfuls of black paint are applied over a still-wet, light-coloured background in broad, sweeping strokes and swirls. With thin trails of paint and splotches splattered across the work, along with parallel lines etched forcefully into the thick, impasto medium using the artist's fingers, the lively, textured surface of the work embodies the artist's gestural movements. Blue paint appears to have been mixed into the backdrop.

Discolouration. Serious craquelure and paint flaking. Tears at the top right and bottom left corners, where the canvas was attached to the stretcher. A long horizontal crack along the top left edge. Dust and dirt. Buckling and sagging due to the thickness of the paint. A handful of coagulated material (possibly paint) stuck to the reverse. Liquid stains visible on the reverse.
