Handfuls of black paint are dragged out in sweeping, swirling, winding strokes, over a lively, textured background composed of alternating layers of black and white paint mixed upon the surface of the canvas in quick, short, erratic strokes. With small amounts of black paint splattered over the canvas and parallel lines etched onto the work using the artist's fingers, this work bears witness to a dynamic painterly process.

Craquelure and paint flaking. Dust and dirt. Discolouration; brown areas were likely painted in white to begin with. Tears along the edges. A tear near the top edge. Small holes on the reverse where the canvas was nailed onto the stretcher.
