This abstract, vigorous gestural painting consists of patchy, uneven daubs of white paint smeared over a still-wet, black paint, forming a murky, grey-toned backdrop, over which handfuls of thick, heavy white paint have been applied. Curved, cascading lines are etched into the impasto surface of the work, revealing the black background beneath. Traces of blue paint have been mixed into the white.

Discolouration; the ochre-coloured paint was likely white to begin with. Dust and dirt. Craquelure and paint flaking. Tears along the edges and at the corners. A horizontal cut near the top edge has been patched up on the reverse; next to it is a smaller tear. Faint outlines of houses are visible on the reverse, suggesting that the canvas may have been painted over and reused.
