An abstract composition consisting of thick, heavy handfuls of black paint smeared across a murky, brown backdrop. Forceful, cascading strokes are gathered towards the left of the composition, branching out towards the right in horizontal streaks, while smaller amounts of paint are splattered over the centre of the work. The parallel lines etched into the medium give the painterly surface an almost sculptural quality, tracing the movements of the artist's fingers.

Small tears along the top edge of the work. A hole at the top left corner of the work. Dust and dirt. Lizard and insect droppings. Discolouration; the background, which appears brown, may have been painted in white. Serious craquelure. Paint flaking. A small paint chip which belongs to this work or to 1963-0036-0-CA has been kept for future conservation.
