This abstract, gestural painting consists of thick, impasto handfuls of black paint mixed by trace amounts of white and applied over a backdrop of hastily blended blue and yellow strokes. With parallel lines scrawled through the medium using the artist's fingers, the sweeping, swirling, twisting streaks of paint take on a dynamic, almost sculptural character. Thin paint trails have been flung and splattered over the work.

Serious craquelure and paint chips. Handle with care. Small tear at the top right corner and along the top edge, where the canvas has been nailed onto the stretcher. Dust and dirt. Buckling. White marks along the top edge and at the centre of the painting. A small paint chip which belongs to this work or to 1962-0088-0-CA has been kept for potential conservation work.
