Thick, impasto, heavy handfuls of black paint are mixed with smaller amounts of white and slathered over a light-coloured background in vigorous, swirling, sweeping strokes which bear witness to the artist's dynamic movements and the viscosity of the paint. Traces of red and blue are visible beneath and within these strokes, while thin lines and small bits of paint appear to have been flung onto the work.

Discolouration. Paint chipping and flaking off the surface, especially near the upper edge. Tear at the top left corner, along the edge of the stretcher. Craquelure. Slight buckling. Tiny brown spots. Insect droppings. Dust and dirt.
