A self-portrait reduced to broad, black calligraphic strokes composed in the form of a logographic symbol. The "strokes" appear to have been outlined with a thin brush and filled in with streaks of paint applied using the artist's hands and fingers, against a white background.

Brown oil stains surrounding the strokes. Dust and dirt. Red paint at the bottom right corner. Stains on the reverse due to the medium used seeping through the canvas. Removed from the stretcher, resulting in holes and creases along the edges.
