With slender, mostly vertical lines and broad, textured, tapered ink strokes slathered onto the paper swiftly and spontaneously, the painting depicts plants in a semi-abstract, expressive, gestural style. Mounted on patterned paper, in the manner of a Chinese scroll.

Severe foxing. Fairly serious insect damage along the right and bottom edges. Tide lines at the bottom left and bottom right corners. Hole near the top edge. Bits of an unknown substance stuck to the work. Brown stain near the bottom edge. Small creases at the top left, bottom left, and bottom right corners. Creases along the bottom edge. Small tears along the left and bottom edges.
