Description
-
Rendered in a minimal, illustrative style, the line drawing depicts a plump, smiling man with elongated earlobes, possibly Budai (พระปู้ไต้) or the Laughing Buddha (笑佛). Columns of calligraphic scribbles fill the spaces around the figure's head. Inscribed at the top left corner, using a broad, flat-edged tool, is the word "Buddha" (佛). The painting is mounted on patterned paper, in the manner of a Chinese scroll.
