Description
-
Rendered in quick, broad, dry brushstrokes, the painting depicts, in a minimal, deliberately naive style characteristic of Zen Buddhist art, an image of the artist sitting on the ground. Illegible, calligraphic forms are composed in columns above the self-portrait. The painting is mounted on patterned paper, in the manner of a Chinese scroll.
