Description
-
A portrait of a balding man whose elongated earlobes indicate his enlightened status—perhaps as one of the Chan Buddhist patriarchs. In contrast to the detailed strokes that represent his facial features, hair, and wrinkles, the figure's robed body is symbolised by simple, wavy lines. Surrounding the illustration are columns of pseudo-calligraphic scribbles.
