Description

Composed of broad, dilute, wet-on-wet brushstrokes in a simple, concise style, the painting depicts a monk or sage, possibly the Chan Buddhist patriarch Bodhidharma, dressed in robes. In the backdrop are pseudo-calligraphic forms rendered in quick, dynamic strokes. Mounted on patterned paper, in the manner of a Chinese scroll.
