A semi-abstract, front-facing self-portrait painted in vivid, unnaturalistic shades of every colour, with slender, broken brushstrokes evoking the contours of the artist's face. Fluorescent orange brushstrokes surround the artist's left eye and his nose. Like the image on the reverse, this self-portrait combines stylistic idioms which echo Fauvist and Expressionist painting.

Foxing. Creases at the corners. Tears and creases along the left and right edges. Tide lines (clearly visible on the reverse.) A small hole, likely caused by an insect, at the bottom left corner. Grazing. White marks around the brushstrokes and on the reverse. Insect droppings on the reverse.
