Through the repetition of the words "hungry" (หิว) and "eat" (กิน), the poem highlights the inequality in the country. The repeated words are composed in paragraphs, the first of which is followed by the phrase "the poor people must starve" (คนยากจนต้องหิวอดอยาก). The second paragraph is followed by the lines:
คนร่ำรวยมีกินเหลือเฟือ
ในประเทศนี้ข้าวสารถังละร้อยกว่ามีไว้ขายสำหรับคนร่ำรวย
The rich people have more than enough to eat
In this country, a bucket of polished rice costs more than 100 baht and is only available for sale to the rich
