Rows of the name "Kriangsak" (เกรียงศักดิ์) in the form of a simplified, rectilinear silhouette symbolising the palm-leaf manuscript box, the stacked offering bowls, and the round turret at the centre of the Democracy Monument. The name refers to Kriangsak Chamanan, who was the prime minister of Thailand from 11 November 1977 to 3 March 1980.
