Rows of the name "Praphas" (ประภาส) in the form of a simplified, rectilinear silhouette symbolising the palm-leaf manuscript box, the stacked offering bowls, and the round turret at the centre of the Democracy Monument. The name refers to Praphas Charusathien, who served as deputy Prime Minister from 9 December 1963 to 14 October 1973 under Thanom Kittikachorn.
