A semi-realistic, frontal self-portrait composed of patchy, broken, translucent brushstrokes composed in layers, forming the artist's frowning expression in naturalistic skin tones, with long, sweeping strokes representing his long hair, moustache, and beard. Dry brushstrokes accentuate segments of the portrait. Painted in shades of brown, green, blue and black.

Foxing. Tiny pin holes at the corners. Tape on the reverse. Creases along the left edge and at the top left and bottom left corners. Small tears and minor creases along the left and right edges. Very minor grazing along the bottom edge. A brown stain near the right edge. Some buckling.
