A two-part work divided by a vertical fold down the centre, comprising a semi-abstract, naturalistically proportioned frontal self-portrait lightly sketched in blue, overlapping dilute, broken brushstrokes in brown, purple, and orange. The artist wears spectacles. To the left of the composition are columns of brief, sometimes split calligraphic marks and vertical downstrokes.

Foxing. Vertical fold and notches down the centre. Paper may have been removed from a sketchbook. Buckling. Long diagonal crease at the bottom left corner. Tape on the reverse. Stains on the reverse from the medium used seeping through the paper. Brown patches on the reverse.
