A semi-abstract, naturalistically proportioned self-portrait sketched in layers, with green lines defining the contours of the artist's face and red, zigzagging hatch lines forming tonal gradations. Pseudo-calligraphic "characters" are positioned in overlapping columns to the left of the composition. Dilute areas of paint along the ages give the work an aged appearance. In red, green, brown, bright orange, and blueish-green, with traces of fluorescent yellow.

Foxing. Serious tide lines. Vertical crease down the centre. Creases at the top left, top right, and bottom right corners. Tear at the bottom right corner affecting the uppermost layer of the paper. Tape on the reverse.
