Thin, diagonal strokes composed in the form of an ambiguous, murky frontal portrait depicting a man wearing a headdress. Superimposed over the image are columns of calligraphic forms. The work may have been created using both a brush and a homemade dip pen, and may represent the artist in the dress of ancient Chinese scholar officials.

Foxing. Creases at the top left and bottom right corners. Bits of paper stuck to the painted areas. Serious oil stains on both sides from the medium used seeping through the card. Ink flaking or grazing. Tape on the reverse.
